Hi everyone.
I'm fairly new to my fitness pal and need some motivation to try and do some exercise. I am limited to what I can do physically due to an arthritic knee and waiting on surgery for this. Any ideas ...more than welcome
thanks

Ideas for exercise ?
I have a bad knee (nothing close to needing surgery), but I can't do any impact exercise or even cycle classes.
however I swim. it doesnt hurt my knee at all. and for the days i feel like I rather stay fat than going to the pool, I do abs/core training and push ups. many reps -0 -

Hello ~
You might want to look at FitnessBlender.com They have a variety of workouts. You can search what you want or what level exercise you want. It's free to use too.
Might be a good place to start.
Good luck.0 -
is swimming out of the question as you could always try and rest the leg with the trouble? I always find swimming pretty good0

Thanks great idea. I love swimming too0

swimming (as mentioned above). what about bike riding? i tore my ACL last year and i rode a stationary bike to burn calories. my Physical therapist recommend that. Crunches and core work can also be a good calorie burn. get a 20-25 minute routine and you can burn upwards of 250 calories.0

Just keep a good journal and stick to your daily allowances. I have two bad knees and a bad back. I am also a task oriented person so if I run it's only to get somewhere quicker or get away from something. If you exercise for cardio health that's great, but if you exercise for weight loss and don't put back in the calorie deficit to match your journal allowances you may not lose weight. You'll notice the journal increases your calories to match your exercise. I found this out when I didn't lose any weight after dieting for my first 4 weeks.0
