I'm looking for ideas on low cal ways to get calcium. I noticed that there are many days where I do not get enough calcium, buttt i don't love the idea of chugging a bunch of milk and using of my cals that way.

How do you get your calcium in without blowing your cals?

I have a few calcium supplements that I like:

1.) Adora chocolates: http://adoracalcium.com/ They have 30 calories each and taste just like eating a chocolate. I've only tried dark, not milk chocolate. I bought them from an online grocer, but I've seen them at Walgreens and other drug stores.

2.) Kirkland Signature Chocolate Calcium chews from Costco. These are about 15 calories each and like eating a Tootsie Roll.

3.) Viactiv Soft Calcium Chews: These are just like the costco ones, just a little pricier, but you can find them in any drug store.

4.) Bariatric Advantage Calcium Citrate Chewy Bites (raspberry flavor): http://www.dietdirect.com/bariatric-advantage-calcium-chewy-bites.html. These are pretty yummy. Like eating a starburst candy. I don't like the lemon though. They are chalky.
  • i eat cottage cheese. its like 90 cal s. but im not sure how much of your daily calcuim it gives you.

This. Though watch the fortified cereals and yogurts for the sugar content -- you pay for the calcium at the cost of excess sugar you don't need. The more you can get through natural means the better.

Thank you Hill242.... I'm in the UK but loving that as a resource.

I am on prescription calcium tablets as I have a calcium deficiency.... but we have just had very high profile news in the past few weeks that this is REALLY bad for your heart:

    http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-10805062

therefore am shocked to see the simple alternatives that my GP could have suggested!!!!

As for waguchan's suggestions... loving the fact the word "chocolate" is there so much!!!

    Thanks again

    Light vanilla soy milk
    Yogurt
    Low fat cheese
Certain veggies have a lot of calcium
    Dark chocolate has some

I suggest doing a Google search for high-calcium foods. And take a supplement.
