breastfeeding and calorie consumption

Hi there,
I'm new here to MFP and I'm 10 weeks out from having baby #2 via repeat c-section. I'm nearly done with my first week of T25 and am loving it. I'm just wondering how many calories I should be consuming. The program says I need to consume 1690 calories but I've heard that I need to be taking in a minimum of 1800 to avoid damaging my still establishing milk supply. And is that 1800 calories gross or net? If anyone has been through a similar experience and has any ideas or tips for me I would greatly appreciate it

    1) Congrats on the new arrival.

    2) This sounds like something you should ask your doctor. The collective wisdom of the Internet can answer a lot of questions., but your body's doing an important extra job right now. Properly nourishing yourself and the baby while trying to lose the pregnancy weight fall into the realm of "too critical to rely on a bunch of amateurs."

You can add breastfeeding to your food diary and it will subtract calories so you can eat those calories back just like exercising.
