Workout routine for beginner?

Options
I need help formulating a workout routine at the gym. My main goal is to burn fat before I start building muscles. I have a lot of mid-section fat to burn.

I know next to nothing about what I should be doing. I have a gym membership with my university, but it's not one that has a bunch of attendants to help. I can't afford personal training.

Could someone help me with a beggining routine? What machines should I use, how long? Remember, my focus point is my mid-section. Also, how long should I be doing this routine before I change it up?

Thanks!

I have found that the fitness classes offered by gyms are a good way to start off. For a beginner the classes will be plenty tough enough to get you started and it gives you a chance to meet some of the trainers and other members of the gym.

No classes at the gym! Not for free, anyways. It's just a basic gym for the university. All of the classes are hundreds of dollars, and as a student, I certainly cannot afford that!
