Weight training question...

Since the beginning of January, I have steadily been losing about roughly 2 pounds a week with eating and cardio. I would like to add in some weight training to the mix. At the moment joining a gym is not financially or geographically possible as I am moving in a month, but I do have resistance bands and a 25 lb kettlebell at home that I can utilize in addition to my kickboxing and Zumba.
My question is: beyond the obvious of squats and lunges, what other exercises can I do (or work up to doing) with the kettlebell?
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Just about everything is possible with what you got. Squats and lunges are very good. You can press the weight over your head, do deadlifts, bent over rows, etc. resistance bands are good for every kind of arm exercise too. Just do something about 3x a week and get plenty of food and rest.
It's not likely that you would keep up your aggressive weight-loss while weight training though. There is weight gain when you lift because you're adding muscle, your body is retaining water, and your bones respond to the training by getting denser and heavier. So when you lift you have to change your thinking, ignore the scale and pay attention to sizes. Body fat percentage, how things fit and how much better you feel. In the long run it makes you a shrinking package, even though you might actually be heavier on the scale.0 -
Thanks for the input! I know it might have seemed like such a no-brainer question, but sometimes I just look at that thing and think gee I don't know what else to do with it or hey kettlebells are for swinging!- but I'm terrified to do that one handed lest I drop it or throw it and break something. Lol. And then I run out of ideas.
And good advice too! I wasn't thinking about the effect on the scale... Tho while seeing the numbers drop is highly motivating, fitting into smaller clothes and seeing my muscles again is the ultimate goal vs an arbitrary number.0 -
Check out You tube videos. Tiffany Rothe, Jillian Michaels, Pop Sugar are just a few but there is tons more.0
