Love me some Avocados!

Avocados are one of my favorite fats. Taste great, filling, nutritious... Here's my issue- I never know how many calories to mark down. I buy and consume the standard Hass Avocados found in my local grocery store. Earlier this year, I was using 80 Calories as a 1/2 of a whole avocado (whole avocado having 160 Calories). Today when I searched for 1/2 avocado it gave me 160 Calories! What gives? Maybe I need to be weighing these bad boys instead of just having 1/2...

I've been logging it as 80 also. I hope that is right.

weigh what you eat, they can vary a good bit in size. Then search for a USDA type of entry in the database.
  • I will definitely try that tomorrow. I need to stop being lazy with my avocados, I weigh just about everything else on my handy little food scale.

I believe a standard hass avocado is 250 calories, that makes each slice 125 calories. That's how I log it. Unless your avocado is TINY, it's probably not 80 calories since they are high in (good) fats.
