43% increase in butt implant procedures

From 2010 to 2011. Holy ****! Maybe I'm getting old, or maybe it's because I have a daughter now, because I feel this is getting out of control. I used to be all for whatever procedure a woman wanted if it made them feel better about themselves, but looking at the sheer number of women getting multiple surgeries, butt implants, boobs, internal corsets (wtf?!?!) it seems many women are turning themselves into a caricature of a woman. 10 years ago, the average implants were a full C. Now the average implants are equivalent to a DD. I feel sad and worried for the next generation of females being born.

Am I alone in this?

I agree, it IS sad. I would think things like this would deter them, but it doesn't seem to:

With media and social pressure on women to look a certain way to be viewed as "pretty" or "hot", it's no wonder surgeries are up.

If somebody has small breasts, I have absolutely no problem with them getting breast implants to be more proportionate etc. But damn. In 1994, according to the article, the average bra size was a 34 B. Now the average bra size is a 34 E (DD). They blame increase in weight of the general population and artificial inflation due to breast augmentation. The average boob job in the 90s was 240 to 300 cc. Now its 500 cc.

Edit to add: I don't see Victoria secret models or fashion models with these outrageous proportions. We can't lay all the blame on the media.

It's not just women. Cosmetic surgeries for men are on the increase too. There has apparently been a rise in chin implants, liposuction, and under eye bag removal. Plus hair transplants are now considered a pretty common procedure.

I think it's just a more trend in advances in procedures and the costs of treatments/payment plans becoming more affordable. The old adage still stands "the grass is always greener on the other side".

Edited to add: Crappy source but does highlight women's bodies are changing. I have to admit my teenage daughter & her friends all seem to be better endowed in the boob area than my peer group ever were at school.

I agree, to an extent. But cosmetic procedures being more affordable doesnt explain the size of implants, amount of collagen injection etc going up so drastically.

I'm not buying into this line a thinking, sure its all out there in the media or socially I suppose. People do it because they want to. Be it insecurities, or corrective surgeries. Some are even clearly addicted to it even if its just considered "maintenence". Of course some do it for business reasons and even right it off on their taxes.

There is no pressure in this world that could change my mind cosmetic surgery for myself and believe me I have several obvious flaws in my body. Its a choice.

Perhaps its up because its more affordable than years before.
