A few questions.

Hello ladies and gentelmen,
I'm new to the forum and new to diet in general. It's my first time. I just want to ask a few questions if you can help.
-Is it ok to exceed the amount of fat or carbs or proteins as long as we stay within the calorie range?
-Can we lose body fat with just cardio training, without strength training?
-I have a dual exercise bike at home, you know, the normal bike with an extra arms exercise, but I'm not seeing the change I'm hoping for, and after 8 weeks I'm still the same with 30 mins a day, 5 times a week. Very frustrating. Do you think I should invest in a treadmill? Does it help to lose body fat and slim the body?

Hi and welcome!
Calories are the main thing to focus on for losing weight. It would be very difficult to get ALL your figures to stay under - look at them as broad guidelines rather than strict limits.
Cardio is OK, but strength training is better. You can start off with simple things like push ups and squats, and there are lots of routines available on the internet.
What changes are you looking for? I dont think a treadmill is the answer.0 -
hello, I just want to thank you for your answers. I want the treadmill because it's easier for me than this dual bike(I don't know why after a few weeks I still struggle to complete my 30 min. workout session, so exhausting; whereas I once used the treadmill and reaped some benefits after 1 or 2 weeks), and for overall slimming.0

Calories count more than anything.
You can lose fat/weight with just calorie reduction. But you'll look and feel your best with calorie reduction and weight training. Muscle keeps the metabolism going. I do enjoy my cardio as well but there is no better feeling (for me anyway) than weight training.
As for investing in a treadmill. I love mine. I can walk, run, put it on incline.... I love it on incline!! You can use arm weights while walking on it.
There are so many great DVD's out there for weight training!! But one and give it a shot.0 -
Ideally, getting your food intake to be balanced in terms of calories as well as protein, fat, etc., but staying at your planned calorie intake is key to losing weight. If you do a lot of exercise, make sure you're getting enough protein so that you don't lose lean muscle mass.
Personally, I find the bicycle boring, although the one that lets you work out your arms as well as your legs is good because you're getting your whole body worked out. Ultimately, a treadmill will be boring as well. A combination of cardio and strength training will give you the best results in combination with a low calorie food plan. When you begin strength training, you might find that you are slowing your weight loss while your body adjusts to building up your muscles, but that will change eventually.
Sometimes it takes a while to figure out what type of exercise you really like. I think you have to like what you're doing to keep it up.0
