Plenty of motivation, no support from family

I want OFF my Diabetes pills NOW! That's my motivation.

Support or lack thereof: My husband says whatever I did in the past didn't work and therefore nothing in the future I ever try won't work. My mother when she was alive wanted me on whatever her friends had success on. One brother says just do it. My other brother's wife is trying to turn me into a vegetarian (not going to happen!). Where's the support?

I get my support from my Facebook friends mostly.

You can do it! Focus on what you *DO* have in your life that is positive right now. If you have to write yourself little notes of encouragement and place them on your computer desk, bathroom mirror, in your vehicle, and even on your bed night stand....then do it! Just don't give up.
  • Then go alone and prove them all wrong. Heck you can be the person it works for and then your husband will follow you.

My ex used to tell me I was too fat then go directly to the nearest convenience store and buy 3 gallons of my favorite ice cream and eat it in front of me!

When your relatives try to "help" or give advice, smile, nod, and go to the nearest computer and log onto Facebook or MFP or anywhere you find encouragement.

I read a book once that explained cognitive therapy. Basically, you're talking back to all of those little voices, real and imaginary, that try to convince yourself you're not worth the effort to change. That helped me out quite a bit. Have you ever noticed that people with high self-esteem don't care what others think of them and need little or no external support?

BTW, I am totally NOT one of these people but I'm working on it!

    And if he doesn't . . . his loss.
