I seem to be a bit flabby in that area below the armpits, between there and just above the waist or it certainly looks more fleshy than I would like when I am stood relaxed. What exercises will target that particular area? The rest of me is pretty damn solid now, but obviously I have been missing something out.

I think working on your lats will help. Try dumbbell pullovers.

Thanks, that is one exercise I stopped doing recently, lat pulldowns.

Lat pull downs are good, but if you can do pull-ups, I'd do them instead.
  • There is a small muscle called the Teres minor in this area which I need to strengthen due to underuse. I also need to strengthen pecs and lats and rotators. The most specific exercise my physiotherapist has prescribed for my teres minor is a band pull-apart where you start with thumbs up and lift and pull apart the band while moving thumbs so they point out. You will make a "V". ( I'll look for a video). I also do other band pull-aparts, rows, cable pull downs, a barbell exercise that is similar to drawing a sword, and some other diagonal dumbbell moves.

    (And what everybody else said)
