    More protein sources
    Tofu
    Tempeh
    seeds
    cottage cheese
    protein powder (whey)
    egg whites
  • Try Greek Yogurt (the 0% fat variety) and all fruits that end with "berry" are lowest in carbs! Good luck.
    PS. Egg whites!!!!

I've changed my protein ratio to 25% recently and I've had to find creative ways to get it in too, I'm not a huge fan of meat myself.

I eat lots of cheese (light string cheese is a great 60 calories snack), and greek yogurt with a scoop of low-sugar preserves is delicious. I really like Kashi TLC granola bars, they have 7g of protein each. And I've been drinking a daily protein shake. I love Designer Whey, one scoop is 17g and only 100 calories. I mix it with soy milk and some fruit and greek yogurt in my mini blender. I made a "pumpkin pie" protein shake yesterday with french vanilla protein powder, soy milk, and a scoop of Libby's Easy Pumpkin Pie Filling.

As for cutting back on carbs, if you're eating bread, make sure it's whole wheat. The fiber in the whole wheat breads helps to offset the number of carbs. (net carbs is g of carbs - g of fiber). I also like to make my sandwiches on Sandwich Thins. They usually have 100-120 calories and less carbs (and more fiber). It helps to keep the number down.
  • Its really worth the effort. You will feel better and not be as hungry. Good suggestions for proteins in the previous posts.

I love lettuce wraps for lunch or snacks. Just use big lettuce leaves instead of bread for a sandwich. One of my favorites.

    Good luck. :flowerforyou:

I love bread, too!!! When I "have to", have a sandwich I use Pepperidge Farms Very Thin whole wheat, two slices are just over 13g of card.
Here are some of my fav's: bowl of 2% cottage cheese sprinkled with cinnamon and splenda, lettuce wraps or meat & cheese roll-up, scrambled eggs w/ spinach and feta, celery or carrot sticks with Laughing Cow cheese.....

My diary is public, you can look at it for some ideas.
  • thanks alot! i never even thought of a protein shake, and thanks for the list of low carb fruits that really helps!
