Flexibility Exercises

I'm very out of shape and slowly trying to correct that. I'm not flexible and would like to concentrate on that before I start any other type of exercise regimen (other than walking). Any suggestions?

Flexibility is my main issue right now. Unfortunately, one finds the same cardio and/or lifting topics repeated in these forums but little to nothing devoted to flexibility.

So I just ended up Googling flexibility and stretching and picked something for every muscle group, maybe 2-3 different stretches for more problematic muscles. I stretch 10 minutes a day now. I'm not sure if that's sufficient but I can tell progress has been made, even if there's still much work to be done.

I'd advise that "flexibility" shouldn't be your goal, but rather mobility and full range of motion.

Yoga as always is generally good for flexibility and can help with mobility.
Stretching if done, should be done after exercise.

You'll want to google/youtube mobility drills or just plain mobility.

Kelly Starrett and Mobility wod are good, but get far too technical for my liking.

Main takeaways from Starrett, it takes~2 minutes for soft tissue change.
Also, do a test/retest to see if you are getting the desired effect.
Remember your stretch/mobility prior to whatever you do and compare that to after.
My added tip is to check every once in awhile to see if your before stretch improves over time.
