Water retention

I just started going to the gym. I have been doing the treadmill for 30 min with 20 minutes of it at 7 incline. I am very edemic now and can't seem to lose any water weight. Also, I only lost 3 pounds this week, which was surprising to me, as I have been walking the treadmill, water aerobics, swimming and using the sauna and whirlpool. What is with this water retention??? Is this normal?

Ummm....you lost 3 Lbs in a week and you're complaining about that? That's a lot of weight to lose in a weeks time. Do you have realistic expectations of what your weight loss is gong to look like long term...I can guarantee you that it will be much slower than 3 Lbs in a week.
Also, why are you obsessed with water weight...who the hell cares about water? Concern yourself with your BF and stop worry about dumb stuff like water weight.0 -
Typical weight loss is 1-2 lbs a week unless you have quite a lot to lose. Fluid retention can be aggravated by high sodium, high carbs and during increased exercise. Be sure to drink plenty of water, even though it sounds counter-productive, drinking water helps with the retention.
If you have a lot of swelling in your feet, ankles, hands and it doesn't start improving you should see your doctor to see if there is a medical issue causing it.0 -
lol if I lose 3 pounds a week I start launching fireworks in the sky in celebration!
believe me if you expect 3 pounds loss weekly you'll have to create 10500 kcal weekly deficit (1500 kcal daily)
if you do that you'll be able to lose that amount.but NEVER EXPECT MORE THAN THAT.it's literally impossible0 -
While water weight is often triggered by hormonal changes, it can also be a sign of mild dehydration, muscle fatigue or excess sodium within the diet. Drink more water on the days that you are working out extra hard, limit your sodium intake, and try a recovery drink.0
