When we say 1200 calories are bad... are we saying 1200 net is an unhealthy goal? Or people who eat 1200 gross and exercise but don't eat anything back.

I am 5'4", 189 lbs... when I said I wanted to lose 2 lbs a week... MFP put me at 1220 calories... (?)

1200 is typically the smallest amount you would want to net, for health reasons (as a guide for the overall population I mean, individually speaking you shouldn't be eating below your BMR), but most people can lose weight eating quite a lot more than that.
