Crossfit, can I do it?

How difficult is it to get into crossfit when your not that into shape. It's time to build muscle and I've always been interested in crossfit but intimidated by all the exercises that they do and this was when I was incredibly in shape and not the flabby mess that I am right now.

Be real careful with Crossfit. In my opinion its not a bad program if you don't have any issues with muscle imbalances and you have good mobility. Also make sure they coaches at the gym you go to are knowledgeable. They do olympic lifts which are very technical.

My husband loves Crossfit. I tried it once and nearly vomited. And my legs were severely sore for a week. But anyone can do it. You just modify.

Anytime you start a new program, you're on a learning curve. I'd just talk to the CrossFit gyms in the area by phone first & tell them you're out of shape, but interested in giving it a try. Don't even bother to visit the ones that aren't positive w/you on the phone. If they're positive about it, then go visit & ask if they allow one free class. No matter what gym you pick, you'll be sore & tired at first, but it should get better. If they're abusive during the class, even verbally, then I'd avoid it. Also, ask your local friends, in person or via Facebook, to see if they know any gym they could recommend.

A lot of in shape guys at work do crossfit. I tried 3 months ago when I started this journey and could not. Though you can tailor the WOD (workout of the day) to your fitness level, in my opinion you need to have some general fitness. I did my first WOD last week and still was not easy.

Biggest thing is to find someone who has been doing it who can show you the exercise correctly and give you a understanding of what all the exercises are. Overwhelming to see that today you are doing Fran or Annie...
