Meal plan

Hi guys so I've been advised more than once to have a low carb diet! The question is what kind of daily meal plan could I follow considering the fact that I am part-vegan (I eat egg) and on a 1500 calorie diet. thank will appreciate if u can share =). (FYI I've tried coming up with plans, unfortunately I can't seem to get it to be a low-carb diet which is why i'm seeking help.)

  • I didn't think there was a such thing as being a part vegan. Maybe your more of a vegetarian. Either with both your going to have high carbs. I take in more than 200 a day. This is because all the vegetable I eat. In my opinion I SAID MY OPINION i don't think you should be worried about the carbs. I eat pretty healthy versus someone who have a junk food diary and have lesser carbs than I do but more grams of fat than me.I guess try to do different things to see what works for you.

If low-carb plans don't fit into your already chosen vegan lifestyle, then don't do one. I think you're going to have a VERY difficult time getting in minimal protein while eating eggs and nuts and some beans as your main sources of protein.

If you're determined to do it, there are vegan protein supplements/shakes that you can try. I just think you're restricting yourself a lot more than I'd be comfortable with.

I am on a low carb/high protein diet. My body can't tolerate carbs due to surgery that I had on my intestines. I found that greek yogurt, cheese, peanut butter, nuts, protein powder added to milk, unjury added to anything really and other such foods are high in protein as well as cottage cheese, too. I don't eat much meat and had to find other foods to eat. I hope that this helps.

Is there a particular reason why you need to do low-carb?

As a vegetarian/vegan, a low-carb diet is going to be pretty difficult, as many nutritious vegan food options (fruits, vegetables, beans/legumes, and grains) provide carbs. As a vegetarian, I generally keep my carbs around 170g a day, but going much lower than that while keeping up my calories and macros would be pretty difficult.
  • Well my current diet is not low-carb, it's actually a lot atm. The reason why I did consider the low-carb diet is because more than one person recommended that I do a low-carb diet, which somewhat persuaded me that maybe it really is better to have low-carbs during weight loss(correct me if I am wrong in this), and yes! I know it's hard to be on a low-carb diet while ur a vegan because most of the stuff I can eat are high in carbs and not as much in protein...ahaha yeah I didn't know what too call myself as I only eat egg aside from being vegan so I just said it as part vegan :P Well I guess it may not be possible w/ my caloric intake and being vegan to do a low-carb diet then =(
  • Unless you have a medical reason to need to go low carb, all you need is a reasonable deficit and a balanced meal plan you can enjoy and sick to. There is no magic to low carb other than a bit of water weight lost at the beginning.

Low carb is not necessary for weight loss. I've never been low-carb and haven't had any issues losing weight.
The best diet is one you can stick to for life. Just eat in a way that you enjoy and track your calories.
  • ok great! thanks for the info it helps! Then I will just stick to my current diet which I am most comfortable with =)

As you aren't getting any suggestions, I'll say omelettes and lettuce wraps. I think low carb diets work because you're cutting out high calorie carbs. As long as it fits in your calorie count, I don't think there's any need for you to cut them down any more.
