Food Scale Recommendations?

So far in my weight loss journey I've been doing the classic "eyeball" of measuring and yes, it is working for me right now, however I think I will benefit from getting the good weighing and measuring habits going early.

Now I ask you my MFP pals, what do you recommend for a food scale? I had one many years ago and it had a glass top and I HATED it. The button was really fussy and you had to push it 20 times just for it to work. I'd like to steer clear of something like that.

I just went for cheap and digital when I bought mine. I got it at Walmart, pretty sure it was their store brand, and it was $14

It does have a glass top, but I've never had any problems with buttons sticking or anything else. It's worked great for me!

(money is an issue for me, so I went cheap, I'm sure you'll get some suggestions for more upscale models)

I have this exact one. I have had it for 8 years and it still works great. I use it for weighing packages to mail as well and it's been accurate for that

  • I purchased one by Eat Smart (EatSmart Precision Pro - Multifunction Digital Kitchen Scale w/ Extra Large LCD and 11 Lb. Capacity) on Amazon for $25.00, but a year later and the plastic has separated in one spot on the scale and the readings can change between one weighing and the next, so I question its accuracy.

I am now purchasing one by Ozeri (Ozeri Pronto Digital Multifunction Kitchen and Food Scale) which is on Amazon for $14.62. It's gotten good reviews (4.6 out of 5.0; 1,102 people gave it 5 stars), so I'm hoping that this one fares much better.

Wish me luck, and you too.

I am currently using this one: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000P1PJL4/ref=oh_details_o03_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
    (Weighmax Electronic Kitchen Scale)

It's working well enough but, now that I have one, I know of a few things I would want different.

The scale area is small so I have to be very careful when I set a plate on its surface so I can still see the weight display.
The switch to change from ounces to grams is under the unit and I inevitably forget to switch it, have to remove my plate, turn it over and flip the switch.

I have been looking for one with a larger surface but it seems small is the standard.

GOOD LUCK!! I ordered the same Ozeri one just now, so hopefully it works well for both of us! :) Thank you for the recommendation.
