Homemade Recipes and Servings

Hi everyone,

So I am new to this site and need some opinions regarding correct serving size on homemade foods.

over the weekend I made a roasted tomato salsa to use as my salad dressing. I entered the recipe on here, but when it comes to "serving size per person" I am totally guestimating. Is that ok? I just wish that with the enter your own recipe thing, that it would come with a different option like tablespoons rather than person....I mean I can just measure out exactly how many cups it makes and do the math to divide it into the portions I like. just seems a little tedious. if there is any easier way id like to hear it.

Anyway, what do you do when it comes to making food at home in large batches?

Honestly - depending on what I make I have a big batter bowl with the cup measurements on the side and if I make soup or sauce or whatever I use that to measure the volume - I decide how big the servings are based on the calories - if the serving size has too many calories I reduce it. You could figure out how many calories by making a serving size of a cup for your salsa and if you only use a bit measure 1/4 of a cup and enter it as 0.25 of the serving.
