Abs are made in the kitchen. TRUE?

I've heard that time and again. After losing ~35lbs , and with a BMI now of 19.5, I still have a ton of ab fat... I am thinking calorie math is not the only thing to consider here. I strength train, do a ton of cardio, watch my calories, and my macros somewhat, but the stubborn ab fat is still there!
Should I only be counting calories, watching my macros ? or should I be focussing on eating certain types of foods? Kinda clueless .. would love some pointers!
*My diary is public
* Also, pls excuse my weekend eating habits, I was on this insane holiday, and pretty much ate anything I could find in sight. LOL

"Abs are made in the kitchen" refers to the fact that a calorie deficit is how you lose fat. When you lose the fat, it uncovers the muscle. Unfortunately, there is no way to "spot reduce" - the body burns fat from wherever it wants, and you cannot say "I'm going to target ab fat." Also, it is generally my experience that ab fat is the last to go.
ETA: With your BMI being so low, I would recommend focusing on body recomposition rather than just losing fat. You may want to look into lifting heavy (if that is not your strength routine now), cutting back on the cardio and possibly doing a bulk then a cut so you end up with more LBM. Hopefully someone more knowledgeable in body building/recomposition will chime in...0
