Read this earlier today, thought it was a really interesting article and also very important especially for those who do a lot of exercise.

If ever something was to stress the importance of eating enough, I think it would be this.

Interesting. And yeah, an active woman that "maintains" at 1600? I'd be questioning that too. (I maintain at 2400 and am not that active).

Eat to sustain your level of physical activity:

Or else you will regret it eventually.

Been there - not fun!!! It's not even necessarily not eating enough, it can be too much cardio/stress on the body overall that causes it - along with low body fat!

Yep! I used to run 60-70 miles per week while eating cereal for breakfast and salads for lunch and dinner. I didn't have lady time for two years and also sustained a metatarsal stress fracture and plantar fasciitis. Good times.....(not really).

I'm glad to know there are others that realize you need to fuel your body properly and it's not strictly CICO.

Thanks for posting! I've been feeling a bit annoyed at how slowly I'm losing the few pounds I want to lose (mainly because I eat about 2500 cals most days), but this is a really useful reminder that I'm taking my time for a good reason. I like her conclusion too - it annoys me that almost ALL mainstream running and fitness magazines for WOMEN are about weight loss, and it's only the men's ones that are about performance and competition. As though there were no other reason women might want to be athletic...

I really needed to read that! Thanks for sharing. :)

But the TDEE calculator that lady linked to put mine at 3200+ cals! A full 1000 cals above everything else has estimated for me! I might faint 0_0

It puts mine at about 2650, which actually seems very plausible.
