Running Blisters? (Caution: Gross)

Hey all,
I used to run cross country in High School and obviously since then I have gotten out of that routine but recently I have started the Zombies Run! 5k Training app to get me back into running shape (which I love btw). I have Nike Free Runs that fit awesome but today I got two blisters, one on each foot. One right on my big toe and the other at the top between my second and third toe, could this be my socks maybe? I typically wear compression socks but today I work regular no show socks, these kill and I don't know whether or not I should pop them (EW!) or ride it out and keep training?
Runners who have experienced this, what should I do?!?!

I have encountered this with socks too. It makes a difference. Go get some good running socks and wear them for running only. I like the cushioned ones and unfortunately the cushion fades with time. With that said, last night I wore an old pair of my running shoes on the treadmill. They are so comfortable to walk around in. I learned my lesson about not using for running as I got a blister on the arch of my foot. I new they should be retired, but I thought they'd be ok on the treadmill.
My point is, socks and shoes both can make a difference.
Best of luck to you on your running! Keep at it and it will get much better with time.0 -
Running socks that are not cotton, and make sure your shoes are 1/2 - 1 whole size up to allow room for foot expansion in the toe box.
My preference is to pop them if bigger than a dime, then soak them in Epsom salts a few times during the day. Just don't pick at the skin - let the new skin form underneath.0 -
Thank you all so much this has been a HUGE help to me and my sore feet thanks again!!0
