Ive been working out on the treadmill for the past month and half and have lost around 7 pounds which i know is great but i havent seen any results as far as inches. Ive lost 80 pounds in the past and i know it takes some time but im just wondering if it seems to yall that im doing everything right. Im 22 female, 5'5, 178 pounds. Im eating between 1500-1700 calories a day and working out on the treadmill for about 55 minutes on incline between 3.8-4.2 mph (5 x week.) Am i working out hard enough? And am I eating too much or too little? I dont log in my food diary because i keep a journal that i write in already. Also success stories from using treadmill would be much appreciated!!

  • Sounds like it's time for you to add weight training into your exercise program. This will help build muscle and lose inches.

    Read this and apply it:

    Hi there!

If you're looking to drop inches I'd definitely suggest trying to add some weight training into your exercise program. Even 2 days a week is great to start. Buy "The New Rules of Weight Lifting for Women." It will give you a great starting point.

    Best of luck!

PS - I think you're right around the correct # for calories!

    I agree about weight training.

Also, don't trust the treadmill about calorie burn numbers, it is more than likely overestimating.

Finally, if you are not, get a food scale and weigh all of your solids. You may be eating more than you think if you are using measuring cups/spoons for solid foods. There are a lot of examples on YouTube and some great forum posts. One is called "You are probably eating more than you think".

As far as inches, take measurements every month. It took me awhile to see inches start falling off as well so don't get too discouraged because once they did, boy did they fall off!

Good luck, you are on the right track.

as slow as i'm losing inches with all the working out i'm doing, it's probably normal. I'm a big guy, dropping pounds but the inches are just hanging in there.

I agree with the weight training comments. Also, try adding some intervals while you are on the treadmill. Keep it simple. Whether I'm outside or on a machine, whenever the chorus of the song that I'm listening to comes on, I kick it up another level or two. My trainer is big on this! Good luck!

    Hello,

I have lost inches but not pounds. I walk 30-60 minutes 4x week and eat about the same amount of calories as you. I think it really just depends on the person.

As above treadmill is only cardio which affects the scale. Weight training affects the measuring tape!

Once again.. weights! Also instead of steady cardio try HIIT
  • I do switch it up on the treadmill during my workouts but as far as weights go I only use my 8lbs and do a few arm workouts after the treadmill. My husband is military and is pretty fit and he kept telling me to add weights but being my stubborn self I didnt want to listen to him. Thanks for all the advice! I will for sure look up some things to do weights wise and add it into my workout routine.
