diet help/tips

Hello everyone i have recently started trying to eat healthy again and work out. I need some help with a decent diet to follow i tried looking it up but honestly alot of the terms ect used are way over my head and the percents ect . it will be hard for me to diet properly because of family and the lack of them wanting to diet... i am honestly just looking for something simple that i can eat at breakfast/lunch/dinner ect just something easy that i can follow myself that dosent cost a lot. if anyone can point me to the right place or maybe try to help me out here with suggestions it would be great. (goal is weight loss if that matters) thanks everyone!

I found the best place to start is from where you stand. Log everything for a week without changing a thing. This will give you your baseline data. You can then look through your week and see where you need to add (vegetables or lean protein) or cut (empty calories). The Eating Well website has some good comfort food recipes made healthy. good luck.

A decent diet is one you will follow long term. Don't diet, change your lifestyle.

Don't go for the shakes, pills, etc as they do not work long term. You need to learn to change your eating habits and your lifestyle in order to see lasting weight loss.

Also, do you want to lose weight or do you want to lose fat? Losing weight means you lose a mixture of fat, water and muscle mass. Eating too little will decrease fat loss and increase water and muscle oss. Eat a proper amount of calories by having a very small deficit. Lift heavy weights.
  • hey guys thanks for the responses ! i would like to lose fat! i was down to 185 a few years ago from 350.....but i am now at 302 again due to a desktop support job (computer repair ect) and not having time to work out. i now am doing p90x again which helped a lot back then and i know its what i need.want to do i just will have a harder time doing a diet now that i have a family and such.... and honestly im not picky about what i eat i can eat a very basic same thing every day meal and it wont bother me or make me want to break at all...i did it back then and it worked very well i just don't know what to eat anymore or how much ect ect ;/ i am open to all suggestions.

also i know i use to use the supplements creatine(sp) and such but im not going to this time around even though they seemed to work back then......they just cost to much now that i got others to support :) i am honestly just looking for a good how to or guide to know what i need for my body weight/height/age ect like the guide i have now says % for protien and such and lets be honest i will never really sit down and set everything to exactly the right percents and such they want me to. anyways thanks everyone in advance for any help you guys can offer!
