Elliptical help!

Hopefully someone here can help me. I recently purchased the proform 600 LE elliptical. For some reason it doesn't calculate strides like most ellipticals. Instead it calculates speed and distance. I bust my butt and seem to top out at 75 for speed. However I have no clue what this 75 stands for. On other ellipticals I am able to do 150-170 strides per minute. Does anyone have any clue what the speed readout indicates? I checked their website it's pretty much useless.

Thanks!!

No clue. I go by my heart rate. It seems like each machine can vary a lot on calculation and how much they make me work, but by my heart rate I can determine relative effort between machines.

Hmmmm ...I have a Nautilus and it calculates speed (like 6 or 7 mph), RPM, Watts and Mets ... no stride for me. I usually stay around 6 mph so I get 2 miles for every 20 minutes, and that equates to about 200 calories (based on my weight and the resistance set at 8) ...

I'm assuming your "speed" is maybe RPM, revolutions per minute? I just jumped on my elliptical, and going about 7 mph put me in the 70s there. That's a little faster than I stay at for my workout, I was able to push it higher (into the 80s, 90s) but I know I wouldn't be able to keep it at that level for long.

I do wear my pedometers on my elliptical (Fitbit and Omron) and I don't have an exact number, but I think I'm 2000-2500 for 20 minutes ... not sure if that would be the same as your "stride" measurement? That's just about 125 "steps" per minute on average for me ...
