  • Nah, I'm not cut out for it. I love modeling new, flattering outfits, having my pictures taken in different locations, and having the photographer give me instructions as to how to pose, etc. But as for being a professional model, I don't think I'd be successful at it or able to handle the constant pressure, criticism, and rejection.

I modeled on the international circuit from my teens to mid twenties. It was formative and interesting and I could afford to put myself through university and grad school afterwards. However, I would warn young girls who want to do it that girls leave the business either streetwise or damaged. Maybe a bit of both.

And the lips were recently THE Sassy Mauve lips in the makeup department at a major department store chain ....

I just wish I was more than one or two...ok three body parts... to the modeling world ....

Who cares that I'm only 5'3" -- Short people wear clothing too...most of the time...

And I have scapula like you wouldn't believe! How about some scapula modeling! You never see that though, do you?

I can see where you would have been a stunning model. Nice to hear you did something worthwhile with the money earned. Congrats!

I wouldn't mind being professionally good-looking...but I don't have camera talent, I'm too short and my legs are far too stumpy. And I'm not willing to live anywhere I'd be most likely to land regular gigs (LA, NYC, etc)

I was in high school but I believe it's totally what led me to gaining weight. I never had an issue before and was rather on the thin side. But when they told me I had to lose more weight (I was 135 at 5'10) and not to come back until I had, that did it. I did also do some plus-size modelling in my 20s for a women's clothing chain in Canada (Cotton Ginny) and that was fun, money was decent too. But if I could go back I'd never have done it and I believe I'd likely not have a weight problem now.
