I live in Pennsylvania (just moved here less than a year ago from Las Vegas, NV), and we have had some pretty gloomy days these past couple weeks. I find it so hard to get motivated. Does anyone else have this problem and if so what gets ya goin?

i live in new york city, so i get a lot of the same weather you do.
i remember that summer bodies are built in the winter.
i also remember that the worse the weather, the less people that will be at the gym. and that is an awesome feeling, being the only one at the gym, because everyone else would rather be in bed.0 -
That is a good one, maybe I should join a gym. Right now I only do workout videos at home, which should be even easier..all I have to do is press play and do the work. :drinker:0

I guess it could just be something I need to get use to...coming from growing up where it's sunny almost everyday to this is a big change.0

I live in PA too missy...so NO excuse! Lol I find the change of weather does affect me, but I'm well into routine currently. I just switched my typical summer-time walking and mowing the lawn burns to indoor treadmill and snow shoveling.
"Just do it." No matter what you're feeling, what obstacles are presented, "Just do it." That's what I go by...and it works for me.
....And as the captain said... "Summer bodies ARE built in the winter." I love that phrase too!0 -
I'm in NYC, too..... My gym is more packed than ever because all the runners aren't able to be outside. As to how do we get motivated? For myself, it isn't even a question of whether I "want" to or not - it's more that I find myself unbearably antsy if I don't work out at least every day, even my resting days are filled with yoga and non-strenuous aerobic exercise like a recumbent. I think that if I were to give in completely to the "nesting" instinct, I would get depressed. Once I am finished with my workouts, I feel more able to appreciate the "charms" (ha ha) of the weather - reading a book, sitting in front of my fake fireplace, cooking soup. If I didn't work out, these slowed-down activities would give me cabin fever! Good luck to you, OP! Spring is right around the corner!!!0

For most of the winter I was depressed, not doing anything at all until I started MFP a little over a week ago, so I am just starting to get back into the working out routine. I still do my workouts even if I am not motivated to do them, it just takes me a lot longer to get to it.0 -

im a big believer in keeping things separate. i have access to p90x, insanity, and a few jillian micheal dvds, and i've never done them. i need to leave my house to work out.
inside my house the most i'll do is warm up, stretch, and foam roll. my home is for relaxing. the gym and the road and the pool are for working out.0 -
Stay warm Everyone!!! :flowerforyou:0
