Cereal + protein?

I want to add more protein to breakfast. Not difficult... except that I love cereal. I use nonfat milk in my cereal, but I need more protein than that. I could eat an egg with my cereal, but I will eventually get tired of them. Bacon is great, but it's not exactly a quick breakfast fix. I have mixed whey powder into the milk, but it made the cereal really really sweet.
Anyone have any suggestions on a quick protein addition to my cereal breakfast?

you don't have to put the eggs and bacon and powder IN the bowl.
I split mine up. Granted I only do Cereal on weekends. Or oatmeal when I'm training for a race. I consider those more of treats.
Bacon I can do 3 strips on a paper plate in the microwave for 3 min.
Eggs, I have a dozen hard boiled in the fridge.
Just make a separate shaker bottle of whey protein.0 -

Fiber One cereal. They have a few different flavors and I believe a 3/4 cup serving is only 80 calories, and it really is good. Use Almond milk and add 30 more calories. Not to shabby. Have a whey shake with it, protein bar, eggs, steak & eggs, pork chop and some light gravy, etc.0 -
Chocolate protein powder mixed with 1% and cereal is what I call Bachelor Chow!0

But why the almond milk suggestion? I tried it once and found that regular dairy has more protein.0 -
I eat cereal for breakfast, and then have a hard boiled egg & Greek yogurt as a mid morning snack.
I eat cereal a 2-3 times a week and this is what I do as well. This morning, I had a bowl of Kashi GoLean Crunch with a cut-up banana in whole milk and a Chobani blueberry yogurt for the snack. Total of 30g of protein.0 -
Another vote for greek yogurt -- eat it every morning as part of my breakfast grazing. I don't mix it with anything, it's just another addition.
I also usually eat a piece of cheese in the morning -- usually Baby Bel Light.0 -

Well, almond milk has 30 calories per cup. Personally, I can get a lot more protein for a lot less calories then milk would give me. I enjoy saving my calories for pop-tarts, ice cream, etc. (I follow IIFYM)0 -

I always have cooked quinoa in my fridge. Some cooked quinoa warmed up with milk and blueberries is one of my favorite! I am a lover of Cream of Wheat and wanted to do it better for me. This fits the bill. I throw in a little vanilla and some Truvia or honey0

Before I had to eliminate gluten (BOOOOO! And anyone who eliminates it by choice and not necessity is just crazy, but that's not the point of this post), I used to eat TONS of Kashi GoLean (the original, not the crunch). Each 1-cup serving had 13 grams of protein, 10 grams of fiber, and only 140 calories. I will say, however, that people have told me that it tastes better with almond milk than regular milk (I never had it with regular milk so I couldn't tell you if this is actually true, but several milk drinkers have told me this), which doesn't have much protein.
If you want a little more flavor, I used to sprinkle a little cinnamon on it. It's not a sweet cereal, but it's crunchy and filling.

Have you tried low fat curd cheese? It's 12g of protein & 66calories / 100g. (sorry, I am so not familiar with cups...)

It's more like cream cheese, but with a slightly different taste. It tastes a little bit "sour".

Also the Kashi Go Lean is what I eat when I crave cereal. At 13 g of protein its one of the better ones. For flavor I use Silk Very Vanilla and it gives it a sweet vanilla taste without that many calories and more protein to boot. Good luck :flowerforyou:0

Yes..........Kashi Go Lean (original) is really high in protien & fiber. I like to stir together Kashi cereal, berries, almonds and Greek yogurt. Protein, fat & fiber all in one.
Fiber One (I steer clear of the flavored ones....inulin/chicory) is also good sprinkled on flavored Greek Yogurt...again some almonds for fat.
Special K ....the original one has pretty good protein numbers for cereal. There is a protein+ variety too
I like oatmeal made with milk & I add PB2 (powdered peanut butter)......real peanut butter is good if you can manage the extra calories.0 -
I sprinkle half a scoop of vanilla flavoured protein powder onto my cereal and mix it in with the milk. I found it doesn't change the taste much, just makes it seem a bit creamier. I guess that's just my taste though.

I mix my cereal with Greek yogurt (any flavor) and it is delish plus filling and bring up that protein count. I often use Special K Protein cereal (@ 14g protein a serving) too which is very good mixed together but seriously any cereal will go great with it.0

Personally, I get my cereal fix in the evenings. I am blessed to have a cafeteria at work, so a hot breakfast is convenient, quick, and cheap. I have grown to love scrambled eggs for breakfast, adding salsa to them for some extra flavor. Also, I like to add a bit of bacon or sausage. I can get 30 grams of protein with just eggs and bacon, but Greek yogurt can work too.

I use almond milk and mix it with one scoop of vanilla protein and shake it up, then add it to my cereal with some fruit like blueberries or something. What kind of cereal are you eating now? I like the Kashi Cinnamon Harvest or Go Lean Crunch and since the cereal itself is not sweet, the protein powder and almond milk doesn't make it overly sweet.0 -
As someone else mentioned, I only do a high fiber cereal at night right before bed one or two nights per week. Works wonders
Amost every morning I do egg whites with spinach, two slices of turkey bacon and a little Siracha. My mid morning snack is almost always a greek yogurt with some almonds (blueberries/strawberries/stevia) mixed in. That gives me enough protein to get through my morning.
Even though it's high in sodium I sometimes snack on Turkey Jerky for additional protein. I'll also have a couple of hard boiled egg whites in the afternoon. I do a protein shake meal replacement for lunch that has 25 grams. I do salmon a couple of nights per week. I don't eat red meat but I am big on lean pork, ground turkey and chicken... you could do an egg white or regular egg omelete and put any of those fillings. The other day I had a salad with ground turkey, grilled chicken, a scoop of tuna, a scoop of cottage cheese and a couple of pieces of tofu... talk about proteins! haha
I stay away from protein bars, to me they are just too high in calories and sugars. I also stay away from peanut butter. I like it but for the amount of protein you're really getting per serving there are way too many calories.
