I'm looking to buy a treadmill on Craigslist?

Crossing my fingers that this isn't the wrong place to post this or similar inquiries haven't been made a million times before!

Okay, so I'm hoping to purchase a treadmill (and maybe a row machine) on Craigslist and I admit to being a bit lost. The one I'm looking into (that's within my means) is a "full functioning" Proform Treadmill Model 595 LT that's selling for $250. The seller also offers free delivery, which I've asked about in the message I sent them.

In the message I asked them:
-if they purchased it new/used
-about its sturdiness/durability
-if it still has warranty
-details of the their delivery promise
-if I could test it out before purchasing it

I'm a little nervous about the person actually responding, though, if they do! What if it's a scam? What if the machine breaks after a month of using it? I don't want to spend $250 on a faulty product.

I suppose I just want to know if anyone has any suggestions/advice for me? Any more questions I should ask? Anything else I should find out/know? Anything else I should DO?

Sorry if I sound a little paranoid. It just sounds a bit too good to be true and I've heard horror stories about Craigslist, haha.

Haha! Oh gosh, I can just imagine that conversation.

Me: Hey, what's that stain right there?
    Them: Oh, it's...grease.
    Me: That's some grease.

    Thanks for the laugh!

Ask if you can schedule a time to see the treadmill in person over the weekend. Take a friend with you.

When you get there, make sure that the treadmill is fully operational, and have the person show you how it functions and how to program it, etc.

Like as not, they just want to get rid of the thing because it is taking up space. Maybe they never use it, or maybe they have new equipment that they want to use instead, or maybe they just need the money.

If the person does not want to schedule a time for you to see it in person, then forget about this transaction. The equipment is probably non-functional or is otherwise damaged.

We have successfully purchased all kinds of things on Craigslist. You just have to use common sense and exercise reasonable precautions. In that respect, I would caution you to go rent a truck from Home Depot or another rental center, rather than have the seller deliver the treadmill to you.

I bought a used treadmill on Craigslist a couple of years ago and I couldn't be happier! Just use common sense. Talk to the seller on the phone to ask your questions. You can get a better idea of the situation that way (instead of just email contact). If anything AT ALL sends a red flag to you, just simply move on. Also, do NOT go alone or have it delivered while you are alone. The first treadmill I looked at, I brought my adult nephew and the second one (which I bought), I brought my husband. Again, just use common sense.

I bought a Nordic track treadmill on craigslist a month ago, works great so far, as with anything used if it breaks your probably out of luck, as hard as it is to believe there are a few decent people on craigslist, I definitely would take a friend and go try it out before you buy it , one honest person advertised that their treadmill would quit running after 30 minutes, so take a long walk on it before you buy it.
