logging specific workout dvds...is it possible?

This topic may have been raised already, but I'm fairly new. I have several workout videos/dvds that I work out with, such as the 30 day shred. So far, I've just been logging exercises that I feel are close to the workouts I've done. In addition, my old heart rate monitor doesn't do anything more than record my HR...not calories burned, so it seems like my calories burned are just more of a guess at this point.
I was just wondering if there is somewhere to find specific workouts in the database?
Anybody know?? how do you log your specific workouts?

  • I tell everyone this.... Get a HRM watch or chest strap. That is the most accurate way to track your workouts. Invest in a good one too! Check out Ebay or Craigslist.
  • Hi there!

It is very difficult to log specific workout videos. That's pretty much the only thing I work out to besides walking. I do TurboJam and it is listed under kickboxing. So I log it as kickboxing. You might want to try logging it depending on the intensity of your workout. I haven't done the 30 day shred, but if it's anything like TurboJam, you could log it as that, maybe. Think about walking at a brisk pace. Do you get your heart rate up more than that? It's kind of trial and error, I guess. Just like I can't find everything I'm looking for in the food database, so I find the closest thing to what I think it might be. Yes, there could be some error, but when you've been logging calories/exercise as long as I have, you tend to acquire a skill for it!

    I hope this helps!

Thanks for taking the time to help me out with this. I think the guessing I'm doing must at least be close since I am actually managing to lose weight!!
My HRM/cheststrap is an OLD polar, and only gives duration of workout and how long I was in my target hr zone...not calories burned. Maybe it is time for a new HRM? :)
    Thanks again ladies!!!
