Budgeting Calories at a Restaurant

Ok so it is Restaurant Week here in Manhattan and I'm in charge of showing an international intern around the city which includes taking him to lunch. Today we went to Ciprini and I'm unsure how to record my calories.
I started with a asparagus, beet, and goat cheese salad (I'm thinking around 150 calories- no dressing). For my meal, I ordered the sea bass. It was grilled with light oil (I'm thinking around 400 calories). Unfortunately because everything is pre fixe they bring the dessert right after the meal and my self control totally caved. It was a piece of meringue cake, very light and airy, but sugary (maybe around 300 calories).
I figured I would just add 1000 calories to my log to be on the safe side. Am I completely underestimating what I ate?

That must be one big *kitten* sea bass....
just find something similar i the database and do the best you can. Typically you can count on anywhere from 800 - 1000 calories or so for a restaurant meal if you eat the whole thing....but fish is pretty low calorie...about 129 grams of sea bass is around 125 calories...that's around 4.5 ounces or so. To be anywhere near 400 calories for the fish it would have to be huge and slathered in oils.0 -
Thanks for your reply. I get paranoid when I eat out and tend to over think things. I never know what an amount of grams would look like in person. I'm just going to budget 1000 and hope I'm way over!0

300 calories for a piece of meringue cake seems very low, unless it was very small But hard to tell from the description. For the salad, 1oz of goat cheese is 90 calories, 1/2 cup of beets about 40 calories, if it helps. Not sure about asparagus. Was there any side with the sea bass? And how big was it?0
