Time-Saver Tips & Tricks

Share your tips and tricks for saving time and just generally making things easier to continue to snack and eat healthy. As an example, I just saw a member who said she makes a dozen hardboiled eggs at a time so that they're always there to grab and snack. I thought that was a great idea that I hadn't ever really thought of, and then thought making a thread asking for all your tips would uncover some real gems.

Here are some of mine:

- When I get home from the grocery store I wash, peel & cut all the fruits I want use for smoothies, put them in tupperware or ziploc bags, and stick them in the freezer. I also keep the measuring cups I use with my single serve blender in a drawer under the counter where I make the smoothies, next to the fridge which has my smoothie stuff together at the top (coconut water, almond milk, soaked dates for sweetening, organic peanut butter, etc.) and under the cupboard that has the rest of my commonly used smoothie ingredients (psyllium husk, cacao, hemp protein, etc.) It's my smoothie station, which is great, since I average 2 a day.

- I don't have the option to not keep things I don't want (but will be tempted) to eat in the house since my other half loves his man food (as we call it), so I instead make sure I always have things to satisfy my range of cravings on hand in a healthier way.

- We individually wrap our meat (ground beef included) when we get home from the grocery store for easy freezing and portioning (I figure out the calories and portion before I freeze).

  • Haha sounds like we are the same couple? Same thing for me and my bf - he is not conscience of what he eats at all so there is constantly a whole bunch of crap all over - I do the same with the smoothies and we do the same with the meat.

Uhm, only other thing is that I try to prepare my daytime meals for Mon-Wed on Sunday nights and then repeat on Wednesday night, I always keep almonds with me in case of a hunger emergency, if I have to eat fast food because I didnt go grocery shopping or am in a rush - I always know where I am going to go what I am getting, the calories, protein, carbs fat etc.

If I know I want to eat out of boredom, I pound a glass of water and go for a walk, and I guess not much else. You seem to have it in the bag.

I use a spoon rather than a knife to eat peanut butter with because it's easier to dip into chocolate chips after

As we measure out servings for dinner, leftovers are immediately portioned into gladware for easy grab pre-portioned (and logged) lunch.

The only thing I do is mark my blender bottle and single serve Ninja cups with a sharpie for liquids measurement so I don't have to use a measuring cup (actually so I don't have to wash it)
