Estimating Calorie Burn

I use the game Dance Dance Revolution (DDR) as cardio. The game has a workout mode where you input your weight, then it estimates how many calories you burn during your play session. Out of curiosity, I kept track of my heart rate during my DDR session tonight (by taking my pulse at various intervals, no HRM), then found an online calculator for calories burned based on heart rate. It's a lot higher than the value the game gives me, even if I underestimate my average heart rate. Which should I go by?

you should go by the calories burned calculated through your heat rate0

Depending on what your end goals are, you might want to keep going with the lower one and underestimate your calories. However, I agree that calories based off heart rate is going to be more accurate than just based off weight.0

Hrm, yeah I may just keep using the game's value for consistency. Thanks for the input you two!0

Use the lower value, and then cut it in half.
No, not joking.0
