I want to turn over a new leaf for the last time

I have struggled with my weight since my late teens. However, I never thought I'd weigh 317 lbs. It just kept creeping up and well here I am. I have tons of knowledge, insight, etc into why I overeat, how to lose weight, how to incorporate healthy lifestyle changes but it's the practicing what I know that always gets me! In the past, I've been motivated by shame, guilt, envy and fear but happily that is not the case today. My best friend asked me how miserable I had to get before I would decide to seriously change my eating. I think this is it. My knees ache, I have to take meds for diabetes and asthma and I have sleep apnea. Yuck! Also I can't walk around the block in my neighborhood without getting winded. I turn 50 in October and I'd really like to live the rest of my years with a healthy body, plenty of energy, and the freedom to travel wherever I want to go without worrying if I'll fit in an airplane seat, what I look like on the beach, or if I'll make it up a trail to a scenic overlook. I have been working on taking it one meal at a time, one day at a time and so far ( 3 days) it's been working pretty well. I have a really looooooooong way to go though and I'm hoping that sharing my struggles and success with other people who are fighting the same battle will help me reach my goal.

There is a quote that just sprang to mind "If you think you can or think you can't. Then you are right". I will try to keep succinct (and happy to for you to add me as a friend a support structure really helps). Visualization - see yourself as the person you will become and model you current behaviours towards this person. Break it down - smaller achievable goals and celebrate the wins. Be true to yourself be clear on what you want and don't lie to yourself. Be kind to yourself - you will have good and bad days - use the past as a reference for the future not a causality for the future (I may not have explained this well - essentially let go of the past and keep the end goal in mind).... I gtg for now but will say one thing - learn to love yourself for the incredible person you are and will become!0
