Do you make exceptions and what are they?

My mom is an amazing Italian cook and while she always cooks healthy using all natural and home-made ingredients, Italian food can get up there in calories depending upon what you're eating. Also, it tends to include large portions, breads, pasta's, wine, various meats, etc.
However, no matter where I am in my calorie range or nutrients for the day, when I go to my moms for a family thing or just a once in a while stop over I typically eat whatever she offers me. I will always make an exception for my moms cooking!
Are there special foods or cooks in your life who you make exceptions for?

My Mom is a terrible cook...so no worries there. But...every other Friday we play trivia at a local bar with friends. This place has the best ricotta pizza. Seriously, its SOOOOO good!
I try not to go over my calories, but if I do and it is because of this pie, I don't stress.0 -
If im being taken out for dinner. I so rarely do it, maybe once a month, if that. So when I do, I order what I like. OF course I am still aware of what I am eating ALWAYS stop when Im full - or leave enough room for dessert!!0

There's an amazing Chinese all you can eat buffet near us that we go to somewhat regularly. Whenever I go there I ignore the diet and eat so much I can't stand up.0

Sunday, my husband and I do "date day." We walk either to the farmers' market or a new restaurant in the area. It usually means walking at a leisurely pace for about 2 hours, so I don't feel bad about having a beer with lunch. I try to eat something decent, but if he wants to split a plate of calamari, I'm not going to turn him down. Plus, we tend to have a very light dinner afterward. It's more important that we have our "date day," and have a good time!0

I'd suggest not depriving yourself of anything you enjoy. The key is moderation and staying at a calorie deficit.0

I usually don't log olive oil, unless It's deliberately a garnish, like on pasta.
Idk if that's what you were really looking for or not xD0 -

It doesn't sound like you were asking for advice, even though people are listing it.
I love cake. But I don't like chocolate cake, since it's normally soooo dry which makes it easy to stay away from. Any other cake it's game on for a slice. (Like this weekend our neighbor who owns a few Pastelarias (sp) is bringing a Chocolate Tres Leches for my husband's bday party. I CANNOT WAIT to put this in my mouth! how can ANY tres leches be dry??)
I'm also starting to be a beer snob. Dark beers.
And wine. I'm exploring reds right now, so I work those into my calories.
Oh, and there are a few local places that make brisket. OMG for some brisket. Not the lean stuff either.0 -
Typically it involves desserts, the 500+ calorie type that I can't possibly fit in my calories most days.0

I go out to eat only rarely (not even once a month on average, and often I go 2-4 months without going out at all) so... basically if I'm eating out, I treat it as an exception. I'd much rather get something I'll really enjoy that I can't have at home than stick to steamed veggies and lean protein. I also make an exception for Thanksgiving (my favorite holiday) and I'll probably make an exception for my birthday at the end of next month.
I'm debating whether to make an exception or two for my best friend's visit in early March, too. He only comes once a year, he's a huge foodie, and we love going to the local restaurants I never get to, cooking epic meals together, etc. On the other hand... I mean, it's a whole week and I don't want to derail myself too far.0 -
Sushi always ends in a free for all.

I watch my calories all through the week and go to the gym 3-5 days a week. I don't eat my calories back on the gym runs so that on the weekend, my fiancee and I can go out to dinner at least once though we usually go twice lol. I still log my overage and try not to eat more calories than I burned. This way I don't get burned out on eating healthy all the time and don't give up too quickly like I did last time.0

When we go to our favorite Indian restaurant for their buffet once every few months, all thoughts of calories or accurately logging said calories goes straight out the window.0

I eat what I want when I want. I haven't yet ate 3k cals in one day for over a month. I am highly considering it though to bomb my metabolism. Not to mention pre menses I go craving crazy. One day is not going to undo you, unless you repeat it for like.......forever. If I do feel guilty I just exercise a littl emore. You burn it...you earn it!0

I could care less about sweets but I do enjoy merlot with my evening meal.0
