I have before, great results. I'll do it again, just wanted to do something else for a while.

I highly recommend it. It's a short, sharp workout but you'll see and feel real progression. I never knew I could do these lifts in the first place, let alone with the weights I'm adding. Makes me wonder what the hell I was doing all those other years in the gym!

Just make sure you get your form right. I do 5x5 on and off between going to physical therapy from injuries incurred by bad form .

I love 5x5, like everyone else said, great results! I will do them for about 2-3 months then go on to something else and come back to them 2-3 months later. :)

5x5 stronglifts, PHAT, DUP, 5/3/1, Westside Barbell, Smolov - any of these lifting programs have one thing in common if you follow them as "systems" and not a set protcol in that they all have progressive overload built in them. Been on PHAT for 4-5 years, and now on DUP. My only regret was I didn't start any of these protocols sooner. When I was 15 was only bench and biceps daily LOL

I want to do this program and have been having an incredibly hard time finding a personal trainer to help me with form. I will not start the program until I know how to safely do squats and dead lifts because I have thrown out my back in the past. I have heard nothing but great things about stronglifts for both men and women.

if you haven't seen this thread already it's got some links to video of the SL guy working through his whole program. Not quite the same as being with a trainer, but it might help.

I did see this and it does help to a degree. To be honest, though, I am afraid to go into my gym by myself, go over to the weights, practice squatting with a bar without having someone there to help me. I don't even know how to add weights to the bar (the shame!). I use dumbells and cable machines, etc. in the weight section no problem but I just don't know what I'm doing in this final frontier! I go to a Planet Fitness so there is no person to ask just the teenager checking people in.

I really want to try this too, same thing for me though I'm going to need to get a trainer to help me out at first because I have no idea what I'm doing, and don't have the time I need to dedicate myself at this time so come April, maybe sooner I'm going to try to get started :)

My husband & I just had our first of 12 personal training sessions today & my main goal is for her to teach us how to do stronglift 5x5. I am so excited! Today we just did some strength/exercise baseline stuff & took measurements. Next session we should begin really working. It was hard to get a personal trainer. I e-mailed several & we signed up at the YMCA but nobody ever responded. I don't know if they all have so many clients that they can just not respond to potential clients, but we had to keep calling & trying to pin one down. I knew I would never go do it on my own. I have gym anxiety.

I've been doing stronglifts for 5 weeks now. Starting with just the bar and focusing on form is a really good idea. I've watched every video I can find on youtube about doing the exercises properly. I'm convinced that proper form prevents injury. I think that stronglifts is one of a few programs that are effective.
