In need of something?

Hi All,
I'm motivated, but feeling like I need a little more umf! I don't know what to do to get that umf and extra little motivation that I need. My husband gave me a little extra incentive - I told him about my challenge to lose 15 lbs by Thanksgiving. He actually told me that if I do it or get close he will take me somewhere warm for a few days. He is very proud of me and gives me contant reinforcement (he is amazing), but I need to figure out more ways to give myself more reinforcement and encouragement as well. I am starting to feel the difference in my clothing and even see a little, but still. Yikes! I feel I can fall off the "wagon" at any moment. I guess I just need some support from those I know are in the same boat.
Thanks for listening MFP friends! Hae a great day!

We are all in the same boat! Ready to fall off the wagon at any given second. I'm definitely having one of THOSE days... but there isn't anything that anyone can say that will help me stay with it. It all has to be me. I just have to work on getting through each day - sometimes, each meal. And if I cheat - I know that I have to do a little something extra when I get home to burn off the extra calories. Just stay with it - you can do it!!
I also do a bunch of window shopping. I find something that I really love and when I get to my next mini-goal, I go and buy it. I gives me time to save up and then I treat myself after I deserve it0 -
I reccomend getting friend here on MFP! They are a constant support for me when I need it. So add me if you like and get out there and get some more. You can do this, and what a great hubby you have. Sounds like a great guy you have there0

I know what you mean. You never know what kind of day it is going to be. The littlest thing can make your world come crashing down, or a encouraging word and give you a lift to last all day. It's amazing how quickly our thinking can change. But YOU are in CONTROL of YOU. I always remind myself that none of my weight came from anyone physically putting the food in MY mouth. I kinda did it all by myself:( My choices, my decisions, my options, they were all my doing. So do lots of self talk and be your own cheerleader, we are all here to encourage and support you and we all want you and everyone to succeed!! But WE can't block the fridge or stand in front of the cupboards. Just think if we could have a little food police with us at all times:laugh: Wouldn't that just be hilarious! I would opt for that for the first couple months! Good luck to you friend, you can do it!!! Stay strong, think of how healthy your body will be, and how great you will look forever and ever!:flowerforyou:0

Try writing down a brutally honest list of all the reasons you want to lose weight and become healthier. They can be selfish reasons, serious, silly - all of the above. The list can be for your eyes only if that will help you be more honest. Read it out loud to yourself. Keep it somewhere handy - your bathroom cabinet, your wallet/purse, top drawer of your dresser - whatever - and when you start feeling your motivation waver, or have trouble staying on the wagon, pull the list out and read it again. Remind yourself that you do have REAL reasons that are important to you for wanting to do this. You are in control. If you choose to ignore that list and jump off the wagon, then you are disrespecting yourself for temporary gratification (or boredom, or whatever your off-the-wagon triggers are). This will help you remember that you don't need anyone else to motivate you - you WANT to do this and you have reasons for doing this, you just have to remind yourself of that fact sometimes.0
