Hi,

I'm Ryan. I used to live in Cali, then Reno, I now live in Melbourne, Australia. I'm always been really skinny - now 36yo and still only weigh in at 127lbs at 5'-7" tall

I've tried protein, creatine, and all sort of stuff...even drinking a lot of beer :) I love eating and do eat all the time but can't seem to put on the pounds. I know you guys probably think that I'm an *ss but it's pretty frustrating for me.

Anyway, according to MFP, I need to eat 2700cal/day so will see if it'll work?!

Cheers,

  • That's understandable as I have a cousin that is that way...She HAD to gain weight for volleyball and was on a strict weight gaining meal plan...as I understand she had went to the doctor for the meal plan .... you could try that if MFP doesn't help :)

My husband has the same problem. He's 6 ft and has never been above 135. He went on a 5000 calorie diet once and over a 3 month period he gaines 1 pound. Good luck.

LOL I don't think you're an *kitten*, Ryan. We all have different challenges to face. I would also recommend talking to your doctor. If just diet doesn't help they may be able to suggest something else. Good luck!

Welcome to MFP! As you can tell from the settings of the site, it's not just for those of us trying to lose weight. I really do wish you the best in reaching your nutritional and health goals :)

In college I was acquainted with several of the guys on the football team, and during off season several of them would be given the task of gaining weight. I think that if you are a person who needs to gain weight it is no easier than losing weight for the rest of us, and for those guys eating basically became a full time job. Some of them probably had to eat 6,000 calories everyday, which is so hard to do if you're a busy person who likes to eat healthy foods.

Basically those guys had to be eating snacks all day long, continuously, plus big meals at breakfast lunch and supper in order to fit in all the calories. They weren't just stocking up on junk food either, cause that's really not healthy even if it does tend to be more calorie dense.

If you could consult with a physical trainer that has experience training athletes like wrestlers or football players they probably have a lot of good advice for this business of gaining weight
