Going out to eat and I need help!!

I am going out to eat tonight and having Mexican. I need help on what I should get to eat that isn't going to blow my whole day! What do you guys get when you go out to eat?

    .....try looking up the restaurant u are going to online....most chains post their calorific content on their websites nowadays. I have done this myself for tnight :-)

    The chips and salsa are what get me ....not really the meal!! So be careful!! Mexican sounds YUMMY!! :love:

    Some of the simple tricks are. when you order, have them put 1/2 of it in a to go box at the start. When you eat, take your time, place your fork on the table after every bite, or use your other hand to eat with. But enjoy it even if you do go over. Over time you will adujst to such things.

    At a mexican restaurant I usually get the chicken fajitas minus the tortilla. You could also get a salad. If they do not have a salad you can ask for some of the lettuce they use for their meals and mix this with the chicken fajita meat and add a lil' salsa as the dressing. Tortilla soup minus the tortilla strips is a good option also. Try to go light on the cheese! Have fun!

    Also, keep in mind...

    how often do you go out to eat? If it's not often - me it's once a month if that - don't let the counting get too much in the way of having a nice time. Sometimes it's OK to blow a day.

    If you eat out often, or you have had several "fail" or cheat days lately, that's different, but if you're on track, it's OK to splurge sometimes. Splurge - not stuff yourself with total disregard. So if you love love love chips and salsa and hardly ever go out - have some. just don't have 3 baskets full. If you'd kill for a burrito, go ahead, just eat slowly and until you are satisfied not until it is gone. Even if today is a bit off, it's OK sometimes!
