alternative to hot dog/burger buns?

My buns, they're delicious too bad it's not Wednesday anymore.
But in all honesty, pita bread, tortillas, unsliced fresh bread from your bakery (cut thin slices yourself), or actually move your limbs and do stuff so that a hot dog bun won't cause you stress :P0 -
In the winter, I'll often make a hot dog bun out of snow.
In the summer, some grass clippings mashed together usually work.0 -
Eat a Smartdog (tofu hotdog) - they are 50 calories each; put it on one slice Arnold Whole Wheat Bread - 100 calories; total - 150 calories.
I know, it's not a 'real' hotdog - but I think they're pretty tasty - and you save a TON of calories (and fat, and sodium)!0 -

I don't think I could bring myself to eat a tofu hotdog. That seems terrifying to me.
Side note, though: We eat tacos once a week, and instead of eating the whole hard shell I break it in half, put my meat and stuff on top and eat it like a little pizza slice or something. Another trick!0 -
if you cut a slit down the center of the hot dog lengthwise, it can become a meat bun for another hot dog0

has anyone said grilled, giant, portabella mushroom caps?0

Shop around for the buns - the store brand I buy are 90 calories for the hot dogs and 100 for hamburger buns. You could always just use plain old white bread - Wonder White classic is only 70 calories a slice. Or, you could even use the "diet" breads that are 40ish calories per slice. Doesn't appeal to me, but if you really want to cut the calories, that would do it.0

There is non. Skip the bun if you don't want to eat it.0

None. Eat it, walk/run/zumba whatever an extra mile. Enjoy!!!0

For burgers, I often eat them without a bun because I'd rather have the calories for a glass of wine, or sweet potato fries, or something I really ENJOY. Hot dogs just seem to need a bun. Face it, they're a not-so-healthy indulgence anyway, so you might as well go for it, have the bun, have a beer while you're at it, and plan to exercise more tomorrow.0

Nature's Own has a 40 calorie bread line that can be found easily. Use one slice on each hot dog The bread is very soft and flavorful! - pretty sure there's a white bread variation too. I'm partial to the whole grain because it has crumbly stuff on the top.0

I love hot dogs but to keep my meal at 420 cal I now eat two hot dogs, one bun. I just rip it in half and the dog sits on each half. I hold it together with a finger while dipping in a pool of mustard on the plate. I don't miss having a whole bun anymore. I do the same for a burger, but I cut the bun in half and put the burger in it as if it were whole. It sticks out the sides a little, just dip in ketchup.0

Walmart brand is low fat, high fiber and only 80 calories. I've switched to those.0

I got nothing... lol Why would you not just enjoy the hot dog in its bun and log it and move on..... Some things are just meant to be enjoyed but that's just me.... Best of Luck though.....
This. :drinker:0 -
Big leaf of lettuce. Use it for tacos, burgers, deli sandwiches, everything!0

Not sure if this has been said yet, but Sara Lee makes 80 calorie buns.0
