Has anyone done an external detox and has it worked?

I just came back from a cruise today and went to a weight loss seminar where they convince you, you are not loosing weight as your body has built up toxins over the years and your fat cells are trapped.you need to soak in seaweed to break down these toxins and turn your body alkaline.
I am a sucker for a good sales pitch and a nice bath,sounds like a great idea. Stung my wallet big time, hope I haven't been sold snake oil.
Has anyone had any success, the product is from Elemis

    Snake oil. Fat cells grow and shrink, they don't disappear, nor are they trapped by toxins. Sorry you wasted your money, but enjoy your bath.

    Oh well yes I will enjoy the bath, it does smell nice. Even if it is a placebo effect eating clean alkalising foods are good for you and I have two gym memberships going at the moment. So I am sure I will lose weight, but a little frosty the snow man melting can't hurt. Would have normally spent that much on our alcohol bill. So all good , a little relaxing down time is good for you, I will just repeat it enough so I convince myself it was money well spent.

    Yes they should, but mine have inflammation , an auto immune disease called nephritis and I have an allergy to fructose, so sugar. So the filtering part is not working right, I diet and love to exercise and run and do pump classes. But my internal organs just don't function like they should , probably a long shot, but if it works no harm.
