I just started reading about IIFYM and I did the "IIFYM Calculator" and it told me to have the following and to adjust it in my MFP app:

CARBS PROTEIN FAT FIBER CALORIES
GRAMS per day 21.9 207 82.8 41 - 52 1661
GRAMS per meal 7.3 69 27.6 14 - 17 554

Which when entered as such, (or as close as I could get it) is :

Carbs - 5%, Protein 50%, and Fat 45%.

This just does not seem correct to me.. Can someone please explain to me what I am doing wrong here. I guess I am just not grasping the IIFYM concept.

Thank you in advance for any advice!!

  • Haha yeah that's just a TAD low carb there lol.

Here's what I would do for IIFYM:

    1) Figure out your calorie needs.

    2) Calculate your protein needs by multiplying your bodyweight in pounds by .8 - 1.

(So for instance, I am 170, I'd be eating between 136-170g protein per day)

    3) Eat the rest in carbs and fat in whatever ratio pleases you. If you're super active consider more carbs, maybe.

Thank you so much... Let me plug that information in and see what it says... I will reply with a update. Thanks a bunch!!
