Oh. You youngsters. I remember when I used this
or this....
coupled with this....
to dial into one of these...
to play our turn of this game and others
before hanging up so the other player could have their turn.
Of course that was long before the highfalutin onslaught of such services as
and
That was the high tech shiz!

Had one of these. Also a very early TRS-80, can't remember which model.
Played a lot of this on an old C64:
Dad didn't believe in modems and thought BBS's were the debil. Our "monitor" was an old 13" TV that still had foil all over the rabbit ears. No floppy. We loaded from tape.0 -

I remember using the same with my coco.
I remember when I bought my tape drive, and it looked just liek the cassette player I had already, but it cost me twice as much.
Heck! I was the envy of all my friends when I bought an external harddrive for my Amiga 500. It had 20 whole MEGA bytes of storage. They all scoffed asking me what I would ever need that much storage space for in a home computer.0 -
works better with sound but:

New kids and their gifs. ASCII art, *****es, that's what we had, and we liked it!
I used to go into work with my dad on Saturdays to make these on the CRT. Then he would print them on the cards for me to take home. Sometimes on the way home, he would take me to Dairy Queen. Ahhh...memories...0 -

^^ I remember when none of these existed. I did a report in 9th grade on the coming "Information Superhighway," back when almost no one had ever heard the word "modem" and computers were something only geeks knew about, shortly after Dad brought home a new PC with a "hard disk" that held more data than a floppy and had to be "parked" before I could turn off the PC.0 -
Our first home computer was in 1978 or 79...way before most. Dad had all of the computing thing figured out waaay early.0

ZOMG! I still have my C-64, 5.25" floppy drive, and Okimate 10 thermal transfer printer! Never bought a modem cuz my Mom was ALWAYS on the phone. I couldn't afford a 2nd line until I was 16 and by that time saving money for a car.
I also still have my original Atari 2600 with faux woodgrain finish, not that sleek, slick wannabe version.Oh. You youngsters. I remember when I used this

Reminds me of a Calista Flockhart show.0 -
How do you add gifs?
Inbetween brackets, type the letters img, then copy/paste the URL you got the picture/GIF from, then in another pair of brackets, type /img.
For example: [-i-m-g-] URL address [-/-i-m-g-] (take out the hyphens)0 -
Love it or hate it, can't believe this hasn't been posted yet:
