Intro

I'm terrible at this stuff.

I like this app. I like communities where I can find inspiration and a bit of friendly competition, but I mostly use this for the food tracking and to see the reports at the end of the week/month, etc.

I'm 34, I work full time, I'm a single mom of 2, I am in the US Army/PA National Guard, I rescue and advocate for pitbulls.

Prior to enlisting, I was an avid runner. I ran half mara's every other weekend from May until October and did every Mud Run that came to my area. I got into strength training in 2010 and I was hooked. I was at 13% body fat and 120 lbs and it was perfect for me. I was a nazi about my diet, a 16 year vegetarian, and believe that food (not supplements) is the best source of nutrition.

Army boots ruined my feet, sadly, and after my initial entry training I was left in a lot of pain and ended up needing surgery to reconstruct both feet. Constant pain interrupted my fit lifestyle and little control over my diet during training had taken a toll on me. I've had both surgeries now, the second one being almost a year ago. Recovery has taken longer than I had expected and my "new feet" don't like hard concrete so running for me has turned into a treadmill thing. It's fine, I am happy to just be running again!

I wake up every morning at 4:30AM to get my gym time in. I am running 3 mi/day now and 5 or more on weekends, and lifting 4 days/week. I got hooked on green smoothies and have one every day for breakfast (and I'm happy to share recipes!). I want to lose a few pounds, sure, but the numbers on the scale don't mean that much to me. I pay attention to things like how my clothes fit, how my muscle tone looks, how strong I am, how far I can run and how long it takes me. Numbers are just numbers. I just want to see in the mirror the beast I know I can be.
