Hello there,

I am new to My Fitness Pal and I was wondering if any of you guys had snack ideas/meals that will keep me full. I go to school from 10am-4pm and wanted to meals/snacks I could make at home beforehand so I can bring with me to school.

Spicy humus! With naan (East Indian flatbread) or chopped vegies to dip into it.
Roasted, salted peanuts in the shell are kind of amusing.

Most food won't go bad in a few hours. Hardboiled eggs and nuts (especially almonds and walnuts) are quite filling and healthy. Apples (or any kind of fruit) are also great for snacks. If you're hardcore, you can buy some of those bags of pre-washed raw veggies and snack on them. They'll last until lunch time just fine.

Greek fat free yogurt can be a staple. You can make it sweet or savory. You can add blueberries and a little organic sugar for a little added sweet taste or with out. You can use it in place of mayo with a little sea salt for savor to mix with canned tuna or left over chicken. Throw is some wheat crackers or wheat bread(make sure it is 100% whole wheat).

You can make fruit smoothies using unsweet almond milk, greek yogurt, frozen blueberries, pineapple, strawberries, and raisins.Blend and enjoy. You can also add spinach if you like.Whatever you prefer.

I really like protein bars. Sliced fresh fruit in baggies, such as grapes or orange segments are easy carry along treats.

Protein bars, apples and PB2, veggies, nuts or greek yogurt if you can carry a lunch tote with a freezer pack.

Make your own nakd bars (I think they're called Lärabars in the US).

    ■ 100g - 150g pitted dates
    ■ 50g raw cashews
    ■ 30g raisins
    ■ 7g cocoa powder
    ■ 1/2 tsp. orange extract

Blitz the dates, cashews and raisins together (I started with 100g dates but increased to 150 as looked too dry) until
the nuts are finely chopped and the mix is blended together. Add the cocoa and orange and whiz some more.

Scoop out the contents and make into bars. I rolled mine into 15 x bite size balls. Approx 70 calories each but sooo good.

  • I make healthy oatmeal cookies at home and keep them in my purse when I get a sugar low or the growls. It seems to be working.
  • I have a food dehydrator. I love fruits dried. Then It's an easy no mess snack. I have to hide them though as my grandchildren love them just as much as I do.
