Why do I get stressed if I haven't been to the gym?
Does anyone else have this problem?
I don't know why it happens I think because i want to stick to my workout plan and go so many times but the way my semester classes are scheduled it's harder to make time for the gym.
If I miss more than 2/3 days at the gym I get extremely stressed and anxious about everything and I can't focus and I have to go to the gym to de stress.
I have a very busy college timetable this semester so I'm only able to go the the gym Sunday, Thursday/Friday, Saturday but I do HIIT workouts so I have to have a rest day in between. The gym is way too packed in the evenings on the Monday & Tuesday and Wednesday I work and have college in the morning.
I've found myself missing some college classes in the afternoon to make time for the gym because I know I'll get stressed if I don't go.I was thinking of getting a yoga dvd and maybe doing that inbetween the days I can't make it?

I get very anxious depressed if I'm not in my plan. I don't deal well with large unorganized blocks of time.
People think I'm too busy (because I am) but I don't regulate well- I have no metered rheostat- I'm on- or off. And if I'm off- I'm moody- depressed- and grumpy and even more disorganized- I only function at the high end of busy because there is no room for the other stuff.
I only say this because it just shows you people handle it differently- and it's normal- how you handle it and organize is the important part of it this take away- but it's normal to have a seemingly negative reaction to missing the gym.
Skipping classes is bad- don't do that- but find a way to make room/make time.
Don't let the gym dictate and take over your life- but making it a focus isn't the same as letting it run/ruin your life. You just have to find a way to be flexible- AND to find a way to be okay with 2-3 days off- going for a walk- thinking about your next workout- scheduling quick workouts between class etc etc
I have dance quiet a bit so that makes it easier because "at least" I'm going to dance class LOL.
it happens- just keep working- you'll find a way to make it work.0 -
I feel the same way lately. Life just gets so busy sometimes and things come up that I cannot avoid. Makes me really crabby.
I think if you look at your schedule and just plan things out maybe that would help? Can you get to the gym really early or later at night?
On the days I cannot get in my total planned work out because say for instance I have to be at a work meeting or some other appointment I will do things like park my car further away and walk more.
I like your yoga idea, its a good way to put more variety into your routine. Will probably help you not get burnt out.0 -
I can't go in the morning I'm not a morning person it'd take me too long to get to the gym.
My schedule is 10-4 on Monday and Tuesday by the time I get home it's about 5 but at this time in the gym it's way too packed all machines and weights area would be busy. I'm not sure what time it quietens down maybe 7-8 . I usually have college work and stuff to do to so I don't really have the time. Wednesdays I work until 6pm. Thursdays and Fridays are okay and the weekend.
I also have driving lessons I need to fit in too it's just extremely busy but I know I get too stressed when I miss the gym it helps me focus more.0 -
Edited because I fail at posting pictures.
In the words of Legally Blonde "exercise gives you endorphins, endorphins make you happy. And happy people just don't shoot their husbands, they just don't."0 -
Yes I absolutely feel this way.
I have an anxiety problem, so there are certain things I do mainly to avoid needing to be on medication for it. Going to the gym is a HUGE one. Going to the gym makes me feel so calm and I sleep so much better which in turn makes the next day better it's just great. So when I don't go, I get stressed, because my default setting is stressed.
I would definitely find something to do at home in the off days. Yoga is a great idea, especially if the workouts you do get to do at the gym are intensive. Or you can go for a short run or something. Maybe a short dance video (or honestly just dance around like a maniac.) Using exercise as a way not to be stressed is a GOOD idea and you should try to make it work!0 -
Yeah I have a bit of anxiety too the gym is the only place where my mind doesn't wonder.
Going to try and find a yoga dvd or even zumba just as long as I can move.0
