Exercise or Not?

I've been working out 4-6 times a week for two years. Last week I started crossfit. Mondays workout got my legs tight, but I had rededicated to running three times a week so I ran 1.5 miles after the workout. I worked out today to a circuit training dvd I've done almost weekly for over a year. My legs are sore and really tight. I am anxious to build endurance up after slacking over the winter just running once or twice a week since early Dec. Tomorrow I had planned on a run. Pushing out my 3 miles on a treadmill. My choice is rest or run? My planned rest day is Friday and Sunday this week.

Isn't crossfit a pretty intense workout that includes a serious strength training component? If so, you should probably lay off the additional circuit training DVD for a while.

If you don't feel like running, maybe walk for the same amount of time this time. Once you get warmed up, you might even decide that you are fine to run.

I only do crossfit two days a week. Today was not a crossfit day. It was an at home day. I do walk to warm up on running days so I could walk longer.

With a good strength training program, your muscles need to rest in order to rebuild. So, if you do a full body crossfit workout one day, you shouldn't do another full body circuit the next day.

However, cardio exercise can be very helpful in relieving any soreness.
