Reducing Vitamin A Intake

Hi

I just started my weight loss journey. I need to lose 50 pounds. So far, i am focused on dieting and not exercising. But, will start that really once my work schedule changes in early March.

So far, I am in love with MFP. I keep recording everything that i consume. I am consuming 1200 calories a day. I will be increasing that once i start working out. Recently, i realized that i am my Vitamin A intake is way higher than 100%. It easily can reach 325%. I am afraid that it would affect my body negatively since vitamin A can cause bone loss and skin issues.

Is there a way to monitor/control that. Do you have any example of a balanced diet and or plan that i can follow and not over take vitamins and or sugars? Please note that i am on a low carb diet. Thanks

FYI, not a smoker and or drinker.

Are you an ex smoker? Are you a heavy drinker? If not, I don't think 325% of A will cause a problem. RDA is 3000 units. And for adults, anything under 10,000 units is considered harmless.

I would not worry about 325% RDA. Most vitamin A from the diet is in the beta-carotene form, which is water soluble and your body will get rid of what it doesn't use. The RDAs are so low anyway (the values are determined as to how much is necessary to prevent a deficiency only, not to provide optimal wellness) You are probably getting an amount that would actually be beneficial. My vitamin A intake is usually at like 3,000% because I eat so many vegetables, and i have not suffered any ill effects.
