Some people say eat bananas they are healthy and some say don't they are fattening. Which one is it, I am trying to lose weight.
Also, I can't get a clear answer on egg whites or whole eggs. I just want to make sure I am doing the right thing.

What ever fits in your calories and macros. For me, that would be bananas and whole eggs.0
-
I eat both as they are more filling & keep me full longer! :bigsmile:0
-
I eat 4 eggs minimum per day and at least 2 bananas usually....so I obviously go with Yay!0

Bananas and eggs are tasty! I enjoy them almost everyday. Everything in moderation!0

Bananas and eggs, love them both so I have to say yea.
If they fit in with your calorie allowance then why not?0 -
The entirety of the obesity epidemic is due to bananas and eggs. If people would just lay off the bananas and eggs and drink more sodas and eat more candy bars, everything would be peachy....0

Look up Freelee the Banana Girl then tell me if bananas are fattening or not.0

Yes to both bananas and eggs.0

2 of the best things on earth!!0

Mix them together for a banana omelet "pancake" that seems to be all the rage these days0

All those fat people, eating bananas and eggs.
I keep a bunch of them, and a dozen hard boiled of the other.0 -
Whatever fits your goals. People argue you should stay away from bananas because they have more calories than most fruits and they are loaded with sugar - but they are fruit, and they provide you with vitamins and potassium. And they're delicious. So if you like bananas, eat them! They make shakes creamy and frozen ones are a great snack when you crave ice cream!
People will tell you egg yolks are bad for you because of fat and cholesterol, but there's no real evidence that those things are bad for you and egg yolks are filled with nutrients. When I make eggs, I have a mixture of whole eggs and egg whites so that I get the extra protein from the egg whites.
Just remember that there's nothing you need to cut out. Obviously, log faithfully and stay within your calorie goals if you are trying to lose weight, but take a look at your nutrition reports - you want to be usually getting enough fat, protein, fiber and micronutrients (vitamins, calcium, etc.) Aside from that, eat what energizes you, keeps you full, and makes you happy!0 -
Eat them both.
Egg yolks are good for you and you should eat them. (A bit gross if you think of the poor little chicken foetus, but no grosser than eating egg whites...or the poor little chicken, so definitely go for it.)0 -

Bananas....nay, because they are the only food that give me bad heartburn. Eggs....yay, because it is a myth that they cause high cholesterol. People who have high cholesterol for other reasons might have to watch their egg yolk intake, but since I don't, well....I don't......:o).
Whole eggs btw.....but I understand those who want the protein without the high cal cholesterol for calorie purposes.
No food is in and by itself " fattening "......only if you overeat them in amounts that do not support activity, weight loss or maintenance......0 -
I ate a banana an omelet and an egg patty today! Delicious and within my calories!0

Why would you think of a " poor little chicken " when eating what is usually an unfertilized egg ?
But I agree, if a person is not high cholesterol prone egg yolks do not do any harm and are beneficial for good health.0 -
Eat all the eggs!
Eat bananas like they grow 'em on trees!0 -
The only way I have seen bananas served with eggs was with both fried on top of rice, so that might be a no-go breakfast unless you are really on the go the rest of the day.0

Any fruit or vegetable is ALWAYS going to be a smarter option than a processed snack. Bananas may be a little higher in natural sugar, but are a great source of potassium, and, they only average 90 cals each. Eggs are high protein, which is going to help keep you fuller longer. I would not leave either of these out of my diet. If you're worried about the cals, cut out a few of the yolks. They are where the higher fat content is, and 3 egg whites has great protein and is about 17 calories. I always keep boiled eggs in the fridge for a quick snack. Top with a little salsa, and YUM!
Hope this helps0 -
Bananas and whole eggs!
I eat bananas almost daily and whole eggs almost as often.
I am having no trouble shedding my unwanted weight, so long as i keep within my caloric intake.
It's all good even cake!0 -
Eat them both, however you want, with whatever you want as long as it fits your calorie and macro goals. Neither of them alone are "bad" unless the consumption of them is causing you to not hit your goals and that's more of a choice of how you fit them in, not the food itself.
Bananas get a bad rep because it's generally higher calorie (not necessarily a bad thing unless your goal is really restricted) and fairly high in sugar (natural sugars I must add) Sugar itself isn't as bad as people make out, for a start it's natural sugar as I mentioned, and honestly unless you have diabetes or eat huge amounts of processed foods with lots of added sugar I wouldn't worry one bit.
Also, egg yolk is yummy. I don't think I could ever give that up!0 -
Bananas are healthy and have very little fat. The nasty rumor that they are fattening is because they are highly insulinogenic... for some people that's a problem. But bananas contain a fair amount of potassium which is a needed electrolyte.
Now, eggs... if you take out the egg yolk, then you drastically cut the protein. There is cholesterol in them, but its a good cholesterol. So, if you have a high protein goal, you may want to keep the yolk. If you can get your protein elsewhere, but really want to cut cholesterol, then you might want to leave out the yolk.
Honestly, your dietary choices are up to you. Do some research on nutrition, decide on some nutrition goals, and then research foods that will help you obtain those nutrition goals.0 -
Actually, the highest protein content is in the egg white.
One white has 3.6 grams protein, One yolk contains 2.7 grams protein.
A yolk contains 184mg cholesterol, as the white contains zero.0 -

I am trying to lose weight as well and eat both of them. Love the banana as it packs a nice 27g of carb punch which is needed when doing cardio 5-6 times per week. Eggs with spinach in the morning on a 1/2 a bagel is a nice start to the day as well.
I vote YAY on both items.0 -

You can disagree with her lifestyle all you want but you can't deny that she looks amazing.0
