It's been tradition for a while now that during every Steeler game my husband and I order Dominos, Papa Johns, wings, etc. Parked in front of the t.v. I always ended up eating at least three slices of pizza AND garlic bread or cheesy bread, or whatever side item we got.

Today was a small victory for us and I wanted to share it because it was SO delicious, and waaaay healthier.

 Kashi Mediterranean Pizza and a veggie tray instead. If you haven't tried this pizza, you should! Great food for game day.

Thanks for the post! Game day has been my downfall the past several weeks - brats/burgers, pizza, lasagna, you name it! I almost feel guilty getting credit for logging on those days because I'm certainly not hitting my goals those days. Your selections will inspire me for next week!

That's how I was too! I guess it just semeed so right to pig out during football. Eating a ton of carrots is okay on my watch.
  • They didn't play the steelers game out here in SD- :-( but that pizza looks de-lish! Will have to pick one of those up! Congrats on your healthy choices!

Good for you. I haven't come up with anything yet to replace the huge bowl of queso my boyfriend and I liked to consume every Sunday last year. Raw veggies will most likely be present. I will miss that queso (I make the BEST) but I will not miss my fat thighs that resulted from it.

    Go Broncos! (and Cowboys)

My wife and I are DIE HARD Steelers fans! We too loved to get our favorite dish for the games....Zaxby's wings and chicken strips...and lots of them! Sooo good! We get together with a big group of friends for each game, but we are all in the same mindset of changing our health, so we have changed things up! This week we provided a low fat chicken salad, toasted pita slices, carrots, Laughing Cow light cheese wedges (which was awesome on the pita's and only 35 calories), and in moderation it was a great game day meal! We have also found a low fat spinach and artichoke dip that we are going to try soon, as well as a modified low fat 7 layer bean dip!

Go Steelers! Wasn't this last week's game amazing?

    Thanks everyone!

@Sejune - This week's game ruled! Glad that Reed was back on point.
  • i get my "chips" and pizza all in one. the crunch is awesome and very tasty too.

3 small corn tortillas (per person)
place in oven on bar pan (i use Pampered Chef)
toast till slightly crisp and turn them over
prepare toppings of your choice. i use salsa, red peppers, spinach, leftover chicken breast, and 1/4 c mexica cheese for all three rounds.

the veggies are so low in calories, you can mix and match as you desire.
watch the chicken and cheese amounts...those will kill the calorie counts.

i have a mold allergy, so avoiding the yeast crust is best for my body.

this pizza is my perfect fit for my allergies, low calories, crisp and pizza cravings. i've found that many of my favorites can be altered when made at home to meet the high calorie restaurant versions.

    go Steelers!!!

Great job Vicki! Days like that are always really hard so that's a definite victory.
And those Kashi pizzas are AMAZING.
