Sports Bra for us girls with the bigger ones ....

Champion makes an awesome sports bra with adjustable velcro straps and a bra back closure.
I also have one of their 360 Max ones and it works well, but I'm not a larger framed girl, so the unadjustable straps are a downside. The straps are so big I had to go down to a M (I'm a 36DD at 5'4", 138 lbs).
I really want to try the Under Armor front zipper ones, but again no adjustable straps so I'm afraid that won't work etiher and don't want to spend the shipping to send it back.
I hate that no one makes a sports bra with adjustable straps that's a racerback. It wouldn't be that difficult. All workout tank tops are racerbacks, so it's a pain to have your bra stick out on the sides (especially when you've got great new back muscles to show off! ).
If your size permits, go with the champion. You seriously will NOT be disappointed.0 -
I used to wear two sports bras, which worked ok for most things -- even running on the treadmill. But when I started running outdoors, I found that it was too much compression. I have asthma, and it was hard to breathe! Plus, they just weren't stable enough, and I was hurting.
The Enell bra is well worth the money. The girls don't move in it -- not one millimeter. Consider that if you're wearing two sports bras anyway, the difference in cost may not be as much as you think. I wear cheap workout clothes otherwise, but I spend money on Enells.
Edited to add: I'm a 42DD, just like you.0 -
42DD myself been a DD since jr high, i would double or triple so i could run comfortably in PE still do today because I cant afford a $70 bra lol. also you may think about getting some of those bra clips, they make a regular bra like a racer back, but the bigger effect is that they lift your boobs and make your everyday (mines an underwire bra) do a better job holding and supporting.0

Lane Bryant Ultimate Sports bra. I couldn't find anything in their stores (whatever it was they directed me to as a "sports bra" was a joke!) but someone directed me to this one online and IT WORKS! I can run or do jumping jacks and higher intensity stuff with no problems...AND it is comfortable. They are a little pricey... my advice is to wait until a bra sale (there is one going on right now, but sometimes they do Buy 2, Get 2 as well) and also go to retailmenot.com to see if you can get an additional discount off of that. They will also ship for free to local stores.

ETA: Just noticed that you said you are short... I am 5'1" and a DDD and this works for me! Actually, I had to adjust the straps OUT from where they started (though that was probably because it came from the factory instead of other people trying on at the store!)0 -
38G when I started. Now 34DDD. I wear a regular bra and two sports bras, usually. If I don't wear a regular underwire bra, I am absolutely not supported. Of course, I buy the cheap sports bras, so my advice may not be helpful.0

I wear an underwire minimizer bra 24/7. I find it best to use a sports top that is long like a tank top (not the ones that look like a bra) It has to be long enough to tuck into my shorts to keep it from riding up. This really helps to hold those suckers down!
Edit to add:
the tank top has to fit tight!0 -
I have to add an endorsement for the Enell. This bra = life changing. I'm not exaggerating. Doubling up did nothing for my girls, neither did any other sports bra I tried.
Title Nine sports (an online retailer with great customer service and easy-breezy return policy) sells it as "the last resort bra".
It's not pretty, it's not cheap, but I now run, dance, and jump rope. All without pain.

Absolutely agreed. I never thought I could run until a friend of my told me about the Enell.0 -
Can anyone out there that may have been in the same situation advise on the most supportive sports bra for us larger girls? I am a 42DD at the moment, I have lost 26 pounds, and with that have gained the strength to do so much more, and I feel great. However, simple things like jumping jacks prove to be quite painful. I have tried many different sports bra's and none seem to do the trick. I usually do the bounce test in the dressing room, and more often then not, they are worse than my everyday bra. Someone here has got to have the answer! Please help....
ive always heard to wear two... i use the ones from walmart that are super tight but they still flop around haha it does suck but the best thing ive heard is to wear two0 -
Our local running store had an open house recently and besides shoe fittings, they also had bra fittings. Dude, they have ones that make you feel like Lara Croft from 'TombRaider' - solid like Kevlar!! These girls ain't movin' a bit! I bought one right away and love it. Less than $30. Go to a running store and let them really fit you - it should be free!0
-
Enell is the greatest! I would never dream of going jogging in Anything else. They are definitely worth the price! I know that they are pricey, but they keep the girls up were they belong! Hope this helps! Good luck! Keep up the good work!0

Bump - I have the SAME problem.0

I also double up!! It gives great support and holds the puppies in place0

I offer my expertise in this area, from a mans perspective of course, for free. Evaluations in person for the locals or feel free to email me very, very detailed pictures.

I recently started running and I always doubled up but then a dear friend introduced me to the Shock Absorber. I haven't found them available in stores in the US and they're kinda pricey ($52 before shipping) but my girls are on lock down & not going ANYWHERE.0

I have 44/46 DDs, and most of the brands (Chamion, etc) are just a bit too small. I was too cheap to try Enell, but I found the Glamorise bras and bought one through a merchant on Amazon. Then I found them on jcpenney's (online only) and they are $30 each if you buy more than one. They keep me in place, I love the adjustable straps and I don't feel so constrained like most sports bras.

You might be able to find a retailer near you that carries ENELL SPORTS Bras. The ENELL website has a search page to locate a retailer (http://www.enell.com/browse_retail_locations.php). Some online reatilers also offer generous return policies. Remember to take your actual measurements when deciding on a size, not necessarily your current bra size. You can also call the fitting specialist at 1-800-828-7661 for more information.0

As a 40D, I was THRILLED to discover Moving Comfort Bras... they have ones that lift and seperate with plently of support to keep the ladies in place. I went out and coughed up the 60 dollars for one after a walmart cheapo had me bouncing everywhere, hurting rubbing and getting burns. UGH! Never again will I just by a bra for running because it's cheap... at least not while I still have big boobs (cause we all know I'm going to lose them first... I already have, in fact).0

Double up! I'm nursing, a 36DD. I've always had to double up. I like Champion sports bras myself, but always have to wear 2.0

For larger breasted or well endowed women the Enell Sports Bra is the best. It minimizes the bounce so you can concentrate on your workout and it eliminates the need for wearing 2 or more bras. They are on sale here: www.onesweetone.com . Enell bras cover a sizing niche that most sports bra companies have overlooked. Give it a try!!0

Oops my link didnt work....try this one: http://www.onesweetone.com/0

Try Enell.com they have large sizes up to 52DDD. Oprah used this bra in her marathon some time ago. My friend has one and swears by it. They have very specific instructions to measure for your correct size! Hope this helps to make the girls happy0

this is a website that i have heard great things about. haven't used them, but everyone on the FB thread LOVED them.0 -
I would try an Enell sports bra. They are on sale here: www.onesweetone.com . But first you should take your actual measurements instead of sizing by your current bra size as this will get you the best fit. There is a size chart on their site for you to find your "Enell" size. Also, with the Enell you will eliminate the need to wear 2 sports bras as it is designed specifically for larger breasted gals and minimizes any motion while working out or running.0

so i read this post when it was first posted and decided to go try the Enelle - i went to a local bra store and the woman pulled nearly 20 different styles of sports bras for me (many that were names in this thread). NONE of them were going to work. I was thinking i might have to double up too which was discouraging. They did have the Enelle but not in my size so i was not sure it was going to be a good fit.
I decided to just order the size i thought i was online and return if it didn't fit. Well let me just say - my word has changed! This bra is truly amazing and the most supportive but still very flattering sports bra i've ever tried on. I can run, jump you name it and not feel at all like i'm bouncing much at all.
I HIGHLY recommend this bra - i've been telling and showing everyone that will listen :-) :-)
Seriously - just try it...it really is that good!0 -
thanks for all the tips0
-
Wow Just what I needed to Know I thought I was the only one that had the problem! I will take the advise of doubling up!!!0
-
I used to do the doubling up thing all of the time, but I became embarassed to change in the gym locker room in front of people because of it. I'm a 36DD, but it's hard to find a fit. I used to be able to wear Victoria's Secret bras when they had the stretchier fabric cups, but now I'm a bit "overbountiful" in them now. I hate that boob-muffin top.:-P
I found an ad in one of my fitness magazines for CW-X bras, which are in the $40-60 range, and are supposed to be super supportive for larger chested ladies. I bought two of them and they work well, but run a little small around the waist on me. Super, super supportive though, even doing jumping jacks in aerobics classes (something I used to avoid because it was so painful).
I never seem to lose a cup size when I lose weight though.... I get frustrated that they're so huge. I would consider a reduction surgery if there wasn't so much scarring and it wasn't so evasive.

I would recommend Moving Comfort sports bras --- they come in all sorts of sizes and I have been running in them since the beginning.
Oh and for the people who mentioned the reduction -- I am currently a 38C ... and I had a reduction in 2004 (they removed 8lbs, so you can imagine how big they were).
Best decision I ever made... 100% worth the pain and suffering (and it wasnt that bad)!0 -

I have several of those bra clips that you are talking about. They do lift, but I usually end up popping out of the bottom of the bra. Not to mention, they're made of cheap plastic and I've actually broken several of mine. I'd say they're okay for casual dress usage, but not for workout out. Mine would definately snap or fall out.
